Liquid nitrogen refiling
The liquid nitrogen maintains ultra-low temperatures (-196℃) and it is used across a wide range of fields. The liquid nitrogen service is equipped with a 100 L dewar tank and is available, for only DSB personnel, to use when refilling small dewars (transport container) for their research.
The service provided by the DSB Nitrogen Service ensures the weekly refilling of users’ Dewar located in the basement and the replenishment of the 100-liter liquid Nitrogen Dewar.
Before using the instruments for the first time, contact the trainers below for mandatory training.
Users are expected to perform experiments independently and must be adequately trained to ensure proper use of the instruments.
How to make reservation
Prior to use, it is mandatory to reserve instruments through the booking platform of the Department of Biomedical Sciences.

Before your session
First use of the instrument and training
Prior to the first use of the instruments, please contact Dr. Walter Giuriati of Dr. Ivan Marchionni for the mandatory training.
During your session
All required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cryogenic gloves, a visor, and an cryo-apron, is provided and must be worn throughout the procedure. PPE must be left on-site after use.
Entry to the premises is only allowed when accompanied by a second person to ensure safety in case of a sudden medical emergency.
If unsure or facing difficulties, do not attempt to improvise—seek assistance from the service manager(s).
The users must wear a safety footwear that fully encloses the feet to protect them from cryogenic spills and the cold exposure.
Report to the staff the presence of incorrect behavior.
